The two hospitals were the only Northern Virginia institutions to make the list.
MANASSAS, VA – Two Prince William County medical centers have been named among the country’s best community hospitals in a new list by a medical industry trade publication.
The University of Virginia Health Haymarket Medical Center and the UVA Health Prince William Medical Center were both named among Becker's Hospital Review’s list of 100 great community hospitals for 2026.
According to Becker’s, the list celebrates “institutions that bring accessible, affordable, high-quality care to patients beyond the reach of large urban health systems.”

Six Virginia hospitals made the list, and only two are from Northern Virginia.
The Haymarket and Prince William centers were commended for having consistently excellent patient safety ratings, for offering cutting-edge treatment for common crises like heart attacks and strokes, for their commitments to comprehensive and coordinated care and for other standout attributes. UVA Health overall was commended for its grants to community organizations.

Becker’s says it uses nominations as well as insights from evaluators like U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, CMS, The Leapfrog Group, the National Rural Health Association and the Chartis Center for Rural Health to compile the list and stresses that institutions do not and cannot pay to be named there.
