6 Holiday Events in Downtown Manassas This Weekend

A Christmas parade, horse-drawn carriages and holiday shopping included in the list of events available next weekend.

Manassas sure knows how to kick off the Christmas season, with six holiday events going on the first weekend in December. Check here for a list of events that’ll get you in the holiday spirit.

69th Annual Greater Manassas Christmas Parade: This year’s parade theme is A Christmas Fantasy. The parade takes off on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. and runs until noon. Check here for route and parking information.

Gingerbread House Workshop: Learn the art of Gingerbread House building after the Manassas Christmas parade, Dec. 6, at The Center for the Arts, 9419 Battle Court. The class costs $27 for one child and one adult, plus $10 for each additional child. Class organizers ask participants to bring one bag of candy to share. The class starts at 1:30 p.m. and runs until 3 p.m.

Holidays at Liberia: Step back in time to experience Christmas in the 1860s at Liberia Plantation, 8601 Portner Ave. The plantation will offer tours, refreshments and seasonal music from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. The event costs $15 for adults and $7.50 for children 12 and under.

5th Annual Manassas Miracle Event: The spirit of giving shines at this event for less fortunate children in Prince William County. Bring a toy to get in for free at Mackey’s American Pub, 9412 Main St. Enjoy family activities from noon to 8 p.m. or adult fun from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6. Those who don’t bring a toy can get in for $5.

Carriage Rides Around Downtown: Free horse-drawn carriage rides around Downtown Manassas on Sunday, Dec. 7 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Rides will start at the Manassas Train Station, 9431 West St.

Historic Downtown Manassas Merchant Open House: Downtown Manassas Shops invite you for holiday shopping, snacks and mulled cider Sunday, Dec. 7 from noon to 5 p.m.
