7 Residents Displaced From 2 House Fires At Separate Ends Of PWC

Three house fires within two days happened in the western and eastern areas of Prince William County, two of which displaced residents.

MANASSAS, VA — Three house fires were recorded in two days in Prince William County, two of which displaced seven residents altogether.

The first fire happened Friday in Lake Ridge, and two other fires occurred Saturday in the Sudley area of Manassas and Haymarket.

On Friday, Prince William Fire and Rescue responded around 3:31 p.m. to the 12600 block of Dulcinea Place in Lake Ridge. Units found heavy fire at a townhouse and quickly brought the fire under control. A resident was helped out of the home and was taken to a medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries.

Only one resident was home at the time of the fire, but two adults and a child were displaced from the home. The home had extensive damage and was deemed unsafe to occupy, according to the fire department.

The fire marshal's office determined the cause of the fire was combustible materials left too close to the burning stove top.

The next fire drew a fire department response around 12:55 a.m. Saturday in the 7600 block of Monitor Court in the Sudley area of Manassas. Units found a fire on the rear of a townhouse and had the fire under control in minutes. All residents had safely evacuated the home. One resident was taken to a medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries.

The townhouse had moderate damage from the fire and was determined to be unsafe to occupy by the building official. Four adults were displaced by the fire and are receiving help from the Red Cross.

The fire marshal's office tracked the fire's origin to the rear of the home, but the cause is still under investigation.

The last fire happened at a detached garage in the 4500 block of Logmill Road in Haymarket around 3:57 a.m. Saturday. A passerby had reported the garage on fire, and firefighters found the garage fully on fire. There were no injuries reported. The fire marshal's office is still investigating the cause of the fire.
