Abortion Clinic Closing in Manassas Sept. 28

The only clinic in Manassas providing abortion services will close Sept. 28.

Amethyst Health Center For Women provides gynecological services and has specialized in abortion services since 1989.

After 27 years, the center will be closing on Sept. 28, according to a message posted on the website.

“We appreciate the trust and support of so many women over the years - it has been an honor to serve this community,” the message reads.

Patients can make arrangements to obtain medical records at the clinic until Sept. 28.

The clinic has been the target of anti-abortion officials in the city for at least eight years.

In May, the Manassas City Council approved new zoning standards with a focus on adding restrictions on abortion facilities.
