Amazon Buys Land Within PWC Data Center Overlay District: Report
Amazon Data Services has made a land purchase in the Manassas area of Prince William County where data center development is allowed.

MANASSAS, VA — Amazon has made a new land purchase in an area Prince William County designated as a Data Center Opportunity Zone Overlay District.
The $218 million purchase by Amazon Data Services happened in late April at a site on Dumfries Road in the Manassas area of Prince William County, Washington Business Journal first reported. An Amazon spokesperson told the publication that Amazon looks at new locations due to customer needs.
Years ago, the Prince William County Board of Supervisors had created the overlay district to allow data centers in select areas of the county. Areas designated in the overlay district are ones the county says have existing infrastructure to support data centers and limited negative impacts to surrounding neighborhoods.
