MANASSAS, VA — A man has been charged after allegedly trying to rob a bank in Manassas, according to the Prince William County Police Department.
Police say Ryan William Cockrill, 26, of no fixed address, attempted to rob the Woodforest National Bank inside the Walmart at 8386 Sudley Road on the afternoon of April 18.
According to a police report, an unknown man wearing a ski mask approached a bank teller and told her he wanted to rob the bank. The man then picked up a donation box from a counter, put it back down, and left. Officers quickly took Cockrill into custody and charged him with attempted robbery and wearing a mask in public.
The region has experienced a string of bank robberies recently. Loudoun Now reports that police are accusing the same two suspects of robbing three Northern Virginia banks this year.
