MANASSAS, VA – A 21-year-old Manassas man has been charged in the death of an 18-year-old from Bristow on June 25.
Jamal Dana Allen, 21, of Manassas, was arrested at his home on Thursday, the Prince William County Police Department announced. He is charged with second-degree murder and using a firearm in the commission of a felony in the shooting death of Michael Sakyi Jr., 18, of Bristow, on June 25.
Prince William County police say they responded to reports of a crash on the 7900 block of Community Drive in Manassas shortly before 8:50 p.m. on June 25. They found that a vehicle had crashed into a parked, unoccupied car. In the driver's seat of the crashed vehicle was a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified as Sakyi.
Allen is being held without bond. His next court date is pending.
A Jamal Dana Allen of Manassas pleaded guilty to aggravated malicious wounding in 2024 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, with seven years and five months suspended. The same Jamal Dana Allen was arrested in February and charged with criminal activity associated with a gang. He was released on his own recognizance and has a hearing scheduled July 8.
