Armed Robber Rebuffed by Hallmark Clerk in Gainesville: Police

The clerk refused his demand for money, according to Prince William County Police, so he turned tail and ran from the card store.

GAINESVILLE, VA — On its face, a Hallmark store might seem like a soft target for a would-be robber. Lots of cards being sold, especially with Valentine's Day next week, presumably lots of money in the cash register and perhaps a mild-mannered cashier in no mood for confrontation.

Well, that wasn't the case Sunday at this particular Hallmark store, 5047 Wellington road, according to Prince William County Police.

Shortly before 6 p.m., and employee told police an unknown male entered the store, flashed a gun and demanded money.
