'Artful Manassas' Initiative Brightens Historic Downtown

MANASSAS, VA — It proudly bills itself as "Historic Downtown Manassas," yet a new city art initiative begs for a different moniker.

"Funky Downtown Manassas."

The city is inviting artists from throughout the city to add their artistic flair to the downtown area.

And that includes all manner of things, such as turning a fire hydrant into a gumball machine, a park bench into an American flag or a staid City Hall door into a Gothic creation (see photos).

The city encourages folks to use #ManassasArt when sharing pictures on social media.
