American Festival Pops Orchestra brings "Pop, Rock, Country, Jazz" to Hylton Center

American Festival Pops Orchestra presents "Pop, Rock, Country, Jazz" at the Hylton Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 8PM.

Whatever your music tastes, chances are that you'll find something to enjoy when the American Festival Pops Orchestra (AFPO) takes the Merchant Hall stage at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas this Saturday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. 

Titled “Pop, Rock, Country, Jazz!” this delightful evening of music will feature a diverse program of favorites from the Beatles, Charlie Daniels, Duke Ellington, Elvis Presley and more, with hits including “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,”  “Yankee Doodle,” “Take the A Train” and “In a Sentimental Mood.”

Under the baton of its founder and artistic director, Anthony Maiello, who is also the associate director of development and recruitment in George Mason University's School of Music, the AFPO features 60 fine musicians from across the greater Washington, D.C. area, including members of the United States military ensembles, regional symphonies and George Mason University's music faculty. The orchestra also includes a select group of talented student musicians from Mason's School of Music. The ensemble has performed at the Hylton Center several times in the past, including at the Hylton Center's Grand Opening Weekend in 2010.

The orchestra will be joined by saxophonist Chris Vadala, jazz vocalist Darden Purcell and AFPO’s own concertmaster, Peter Wilson, on violin. 

Tickets to the American Festival Pops Orchestra are $30, $38 and $46 and the performance is Family Friendly: youth through grade 12 can obtain half price tickets when accompanied by an adult.
