Norman Rockwell CD release party set for October 20th at Jammin Java
Local band, Normal Rockwell, set to release debut album -- Fare Thee Well. CD release party set for October 20th at Jammin Java

The four guys (Joshua Johnston, Sean Meyers, Ben Tufts and Nathan Read) that call themselves Normal Rockwell are set to release their debut album, Fare Thee Well, this Saturday at Jammin' Java in Vienna. I have seen these guys play three times now and can say this is something you do NOT want to miss. With their combination of folk, rock, bluegrass, reggae and jazz they are definitely a delightful slice of Americana. Incorporating the guitar, banjo, bass, drums, vocals and mandolin, their songs give off an energy that is soothing, vibrant and authentic.
Speaking with Josh a few weeks ago I was able to get a glimpse inside the band just a bit..... While Josh wrote his first song when he was probably 15 (I believe he said it was something about a mouse eating cheese.....) his first real song he wrote was one that is actually featured on the debut record. He wrote it when his family first moved to America after living over seas his entire life. It's called Damn you Damn me. It's a pretty dark song about moving on from past things. Josh also shared that musical success for him would be being able to play music for a living, without working any other jobs. As we were talking about success, Josh mentioned playing at The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville would be an epic dream for him. In his opinion it's finest venue to American music.
People are all about supporting our local farmers and businesses these days so why not support a local artist and come to Jammin Java on Saturday, October 20th at 8pm for their CD release party. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased from Jammin Java in Vienna or Deja Brew in Haymarket. Missing this is not an option.
