We'll have a health coach this week and a cooking demonstration for kids as well.

What a day we have planned for you, and most especially for children, at the market Sunday! Let me count the ways that we plan to educate, entertain, and inspire children to try new things, learn to cook, and just have fun at the farmers' market.

We hope to educate you about the importance of eating healthy. We will invite you to watch and learn from a cooking demo or two and also sample what our teachers and chefs put together with market ingredients. Certified Health Coach Cindy Santa Ana, who teaches a wellness class at T. Clay Wood Elementary School, will be with us to demonstrate how to make a delicious salad with strawberries and spinach. She will also talk about small changes parents can make to improve their families' health.

Stephanie Matthews operates the Kitchen Warriors Cooking School for Kids, and she will also be with us to introduce interactive cooking activities for children — and parents too, if they are very good. We'll post to our Facebook page later this week about her activities.

Just for fun we will have Leandra, our very favorite balloon lady, and her face-painting friend.

You can also enjoy lunch at the market from either the World's Tastiest Food Truck or Absolute BBQ.

Of course, you can always buy fruits (strawberries are in!) and vegetables (asparagus, great greens, and lettuces), and baked goods.  Our wide variety of free-range, grass-fed meats are as local as you can get — from the Smith Family Farm just down the road. And all of our farmers are still bringing lovingly nurtured bedding plants for your own gardens.

See you at the market!
