Dear Shopper,
Local Bristow band West on 66 is scheduled to appear Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. We are watching the weather carefully and will cancel the performance if necessary. If you follow us on Twitter, we will let you know as soon as the decision is made, or you can check our Facebook page, the Bristow Beat or our website before you leave for the market. We will be open rain or shine, and we will schedule a rain date for the band if necessary.

These are turbulent and perilous times for food safety, and it seems we have to worry about food actually being food. But there is one place where you can shop for food where you do not have to worry about toxins, bacteria, viruses, GMO foods, wax coatings, or anything added to your meat that isn’t edible. Montoya’s Produce will have early greens, beets, spring onions, a wide variety of leaf lettuces that are really tasty at this time of year, asparagus and strawberries, and more! I almost forgot about the rest after I heard about the asparagus and strawberries, but I do remember that Max Tyson of Tyson Farms and Orchards will bring rhubarb, so I implore you to try the strawberry-rhubarb sherbet at home. It’s just great!
New vendors continue to show up every week, it seems, but this way you can linger a little and get to know them before the next new ones arrive. Fertile Plains, purveyors of meats, country eggs an prepared foods, will join us; as will Great Harvest Bread of Warrenton for the first time.

Our thanks to Wicked Oaks Farm, a vendor at some of our other markets, who has been supplying us eggs through Tyson Farms while we waited for another vendor to help us meet the demand.
Starting Sunday, look for those great eggs at Rainbow Acres and Fertile Plains, and some great egg recipes at the Market Master’s tent.
I also need to address the parking situation. Our gracious landlords are working hard to move that great mound of dirt in order to open up that area to parking, but in the meantime, please be patient with us and take care. Our vendors will continue to leave the road open for you, and if you park carefully and close to the curb, you can park on both sides with room for traffic to pass through. We will continue to lose spaces in the Montessori School lot, so look carefully before you pull in. Thank you for your patience.
