What's in Your Drinking Water? The Real Dirt on Clean Water

Did you know that Brita and PUR are not certified to reduce lead in drinking water?

Half of being healthy is exercising. The other half is paying attention to what we put into our bodies. And that includes our drinking water.

I want you to know "the real dirt on clean water."

When my son was several months old, I weened him onto formula and off of breast milk. And that meant I had to use water for the powder-based formual mix I was giving him. But what kind of water could I use that I knew was healthy and contaminant-free?

I didn't. And that's what I was using to mix my baby's formula: filtered Brita water. Except I didn't know it wasn't actually filtering as many chemicals like lead, pesticides, heavy metals, and industrial pollutants, as I found in another filtration system called "Get Clean."

After reading more about it, I learned it's the first pitcher to use a refillable carbon-block filter system, which means less plastic waste. And it filters up to 80 gallons, which is twice as much as Brita and PUR.

This meant I was not only saving my health, but money.

I was spending $9 a month on a Brita filter. I have spent about $20 on the filter from Shaklee and I have had it since March. And I am only halfway to 80 gallons.

Here are a few industrial and agricultural pollutants Shaklee is certified to remove that Brita and PUR are not: lead, chlorobenzene, trichloroethylene, xylenes, atrazine, alachlor, methoxychlor, and dinoseb.

And have you ever noticed that bottled waters you find in stores don't list what chemicals they remove?

As we are unknowingly putting harmful toxins into our bodies every day it's time to "Get Clean" and get smart about our drinking water.
