Breweries Cited For Holiday Creations in Manassas Area

MANASSAS, VA — The state's tourism corporation has put together a list of "25 Holiday Beers To Try At Virginia Breweries This Season," and two Manassas-area breweries are among the selections.

One, Heritage Brewing Company, 9436 Center Point Lane, is in Manassas.

The other, Tin Cannon Brewing Company, 7679 Limestone Drive, is in Gainesville.

The list was based on brewers who came up with distinctive "seasonally-inspired ingredients," and the Manassas-area breweries did just that.

Here's a look at the three creations, one from Heritage Brewing Company and two from Tin Cannon Brewing Company:

Yule Log Not Included

(Heritage): Brown sugar, cinnamon, fresh ginger root, and orange rind add holiday spice to Yule Log Not Included, a winter ale from Heritage Brewing Company. Complex in fragrance and flavor, the beer is the perfect companion to the twinkling lights and warm cheer of the holidays.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Stout
(Tin Cannon) The Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Stout from Tin Cannon is a strong American Stout that mixes holiday spices with the flavor of rum-soaked raisins. Leave the sweet holiday cookies at home; this craft beer is a much better holiday party gift.

Ginger Snap Amber Ale
(Tin Cannon) It combines pale and caramel malts with ginger, molasses and spices in their seasonal brew, the Ginger Snap Amber Ale. The spices are not overpowering, and the hops stay in the background, resulting in a delicious and easily drinkable holiday treat.
