Bristow Couple Killed In Fiery Motorcycle Crash: Police

A husband and wife from Bristow died on Sunday after crashing their motorcycle into oncoming traffic in Madison County, police said.

MADISON COUNTY, VA — A husband and wife from Bristow died in a motorcycle crash in Madison County on Sunday, Virginia State Police said.

Authorities identified the couple as 59-year-old William Romine II and 58-year-old Cathleen Romine. Another motorcycle rider from Bristow suffered serious injuries in the crash, state police officials said.

The crash occurred around 12:20 p.m. on Sunday on Route 231 south of Aylor Road. Investigators said the Romines were riding their 2006 Harley Davidson when they failed to follow a curve.

The motorcycle crossed the double-yellow line and crashed into 2007 BMW that was travelling the opposite direction. The motorcycle and the car left the road and caught fire, authorities said.

The force of the collision also sent debris into the road, which collided with the other motorcycle rider from Bristow. The second motorcycle also crashed off the road.

The Romines died at the scene of the crash. They were both wearing helmets, authorities said. The drive of the BMW, a 68-year-old man from Arlington, suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The other motorcycle rider, a 56-year-old man, suffered serious injuries that were not life-threatening. He received treatment at a nearby hospital.
