Cabela's Not Coming to Gainesville

Outdoor retailer pulls out of Virginia Gateway project. What do you want to see replace it?

Cabela’s will not build the large hunting and fishing retail center planned at Gainesville’s Virginia Gateway.

The new store was taken off the to-do list for 2016 after the company’s lower-than expected earnings, according the Washington Business Journal and first reported by Bristow Beat.

The 79,000-square-foot retail center was expected to be built at the intersection of Linton-Hall Road and Lee Highway. The company had planned to hire 190 full and part-time employees.
