Child Dies in Dirt Bike Wreck in Manassas

An 11-year-old Manssas boy died Sunday from injuries in a dirt bike wreck on private property, according to Prince William County Police.

The victim was identified as Colby Thomas Smith, 11, of Manassas.

First responders were called at 1:27 p.m. to the 8400 block of Cabin Branch Court regarding a dirt bike crash.

The victim was reportedly riding a 2007 CR85 Honda dirt bike on a dirt track on private property, along with two other dirt bike riders.

At one point, the victim lost control and struck a tree, according to police.

The boy was transported to an area hospital where he died a short time later as a result of injuries.

Police note that the victim was wearing a helmet at the time at the time of the incident.
