Child Wanders Away From Day Care Center, Employee Arrested in Gainesville: Police

The 3-year-old girl — unharmed — was found at a nearby business, according to Prince William County Police.

GAINESVILLE, VA — An employee of a day care center who failed to see a 3-year-old girl wander away from the facility last month at 13980 Estate Manor Drive was arrested Wednesday, according to Prince William County Police.

Nayoung Park, 23, of the 5800 block of Post Corners Trail in Centreville, was charged with felony child neglect.

On Nov. 19 a little after 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a call from a business in the 13900 block of Estate Manor Drive. They were told a child walked into the business without a guardian, and efforts to reach anyone who knew who she was were unsuccessful.

The police investigation found that the child had walked away from the Kiddie Academy. She wasn't harmed and released to a family member.

Park was in charge of watching the child at the center, according to police, and they obtained a warrant for her arrest Tuesday. She turned herself in the next day without incident.
