Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Saturday at Historic Lucasville School Saturday in Manassas
It's 4:30 p.m., and will include a visit from Santa. It's free, and those attending are urged to bring contributions to Toys for Tots.
MANASSAS, VA — Here's a way to get a true sense of post-Civil War history while also taking part in traditional holiday events.
We're talking about Lucasville School, where a tree-lighting and other holiday activities will be held 4:30 p.m. Saturday at 10516 Godwin Drive.
A visit from Santa is expected, and folks who attend the free event are urged to bring contributions to Toys for Tots.

Lucasville School hasn't actually had students since 1926, but the one-room school that opened in 1885 was specifically and solely for black folks, and was the first of its kind in the Prince William County area.
It was fully reconstructed in 2008.
