City Councilman Tom Osina Announces Plans To Run For Manassas Mayor

MANASSAS, VA – Manassas City Councilman Tom Osina has announced that he will run for mayor in 2027.

Osina was first elected to Manassas’ City Council in 2020 and has served two terms. He lives with his husband in the city’s Georgetown South community and is the father of two grown children. Mosina is a cofounder of the community organization Equality Prince William, which hosts inclusive events and works to build understanding and safety for the county’s LGBTQ community.

In an interview with the Prince William Times, Osina discussed bringing a listening-oriented approach to the mayor’s office, as exemplified by his monthly neighborhood walk and talks, in which he picks a neighborhood every month to walk through and door-knock to connect with residents. Osina also expressed support for redevelopment projects at the former Olde Town Inn site, the Mathis Avenue shopping center and for the expansion of Washington Manassas Airport.

In an interview with John Reid for Prince William Perspective, Osina discussed making city services more accessible to residents and stressed his focus on everyday concerns like trash collection, grass maintenance, speeding through neighborhoods, parking, park maintenance and noise complaints, which he said might sound small but have a significant impact on how residents feel about their city.

Manassas Mayor Michelle Davis-Younger announced in February that she would step down at the end of 2026, two years before her term is set to end. A special election will be called in 2027 to choose her successor, but it has not yet been scheduled.
