Crash Kills Child, Man Monday in Gainesville

Victims, 2 and 32, were in a car that slammed into the back of a truck stopped at an intersection, say Prince William County Police.

GAINESVILLE, VA — Two people, including a 2-year-old boy, were killed shortly before 10 a.m. Monday after their car slammed into the back of a truck stopped at the intersection of Lee Highway and Heathcote Boulevard, according to Prince William County Police.

The driver of the car was identified as 32-year-old Daniel Sasha Velasco of Gainesville, with 2-year-old Ronin William Velasco— who was in the back seat — also of Gainesville.

The driver of the truck, a 46-year-old Stafford man, was not injured.

Police say a 1999 Honda Accord was going north on Lee Highway when it hit a Kenworth delivery truck stopped at the Heathcote Boulevard intersection.

No charges are pending.
