DC Man Charged With Brandishing Firearm In Manassas Incident

MANASSAS, VA — Prince William County police arrested a suspect Monday in connection with an incident where a man traveling in the Manassas area had guns pointed at him by occupants of another vehicle.

The incident occurred Nov. 18 near the intersection of Prince William Pkwy. and Liberia Ave. in the Manassas area. The suspect, Travis Demetrius Banks, 31, of Washington, D.C. turned himself into police on Monday, according to the police department. Banks' court date has been set for Dec. 22. He was charged with brandishing a firearm.

Prince William County police are still seeking the identity of the second suspect involved in the incident.

At about 8:20 a.m. on Nov. 18, police officers responded to the report of a brandishing incident. The victim, a 27-year-old man, told police that while driving on Dumfries Road, he saw two vehicles driving erratically.

The man drove past the two vehicles. But one of the vehicles caught up to him near the intersection of Prince William Parkway and Liberia Avenue.

Two occupants of the vehicle, a GMC Yukon, approached the victim's vehicle while brandishing firearms, according to the police. When the traffic light changed, the man was able to leave the area without further incident.
