Dog Found in Garbage Bag, Felony Animal Cruelty Alleged: Police

Investigators release photo of a dog similar to one found in a garbage bag along a Nokesville road that had to be euthanized.

NOKESVILLE, VA — Animal Control investigators are hoping that the image of a small dog will help locate the suspects in a felony animal cruelty case, according to Prince William County Police.

The photos shared by police are of a similar dog in good health.

On Friday, a person was in the area of Fleetwood Drive at the Fauquier County line when an animal could be heard. The individual found a small dog in a black trash bang on the side of the road.

The dog was in extremely poor condition and, after being evaluated by a veterinarian, the dog was euthanized.

According to police, the dog was transported to a state lab for a necropsy and further examination.

The dog is believed to be a Chihuahua/Pomeranian-mix, tan in color, and approximately 10 years old. The dog weighed about 3lbs and had no identifying marks or collar.
