Osbourn (0-2) struggled to get their offense going as they fell to Mountain View (2-0) 21-0 on Friday night.
The Eagles offense continued to stall due to missed opportunities; dropped balls plagued the passing game while the running game never quite got established. Connor Lane threw for 60 yards while Cedric Delaney led the Eagles in rushing with 64 yards.
"We had a couple fingertip passes that we just couldn't come up with and we were never really able to get the running game going," Osbourn head coach Steve Schultze said.
Despite the loss, Osbourn showed signs of improvement. The team limited their turnovers to two this week, as opposed to the six last week.
Additionally, the defense showed signs of greatness, holding the Wildcats to only 21 points.
"Our defense played pretty well. They did not give up the big, easy scores. Every point [Mountain View] scored last night they had to work for on long, tough drives," Schultze said.
Mountain View led 14-0 at halftime and tacked on one more touchdown in the second half. Trailing the entire game made it dificult for the Eagles to gain any momentum.
"We are a younger team this year and we got behind early and tried to play catch up," Shultz said. "Our boys went out and gave it everything the had; the effort was there. The bottom line is they just played more confidently than we did."
