Eagles Fly High Over G.W. Danville

The Osbourn boys basketball team won their first regional game against G.W. Danville on Tuesday night.

The Osbourn boys basketball team has been in this position before. Just last season, the Eagles hosted all of their regional games and ended up finishing second in the region.

This year Osbourn is determined to prove they are the best team in the region and maybe even the best team in the state. The first obstacle standing in the Eagles' way for that title was G.W. Danville, and the two teams squared off on Tuesday night at Osbourn.

Osbourn is a team that always packs the house when they play and last night was no different. The seats were packed with the Eagle faithful for the big game.

Osbourn would not disappoint the home crowd as they took control of the game early and never let up. The Eagles used great defense and transition offense to open up a 22-6 lead by the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter was much of the same as G.W. Danville simply could not keep up with the fast-paced Osbourn team. Osbourn led, 41-17 at the half.

The Eagles continued the momentum heading into the third quarter.  After scoring 41 first half points, Osbourn tallied a whopping 52 points in the second half.

Osbourn made a huge statement to teams all over the region as they eventually won the game by a final score of 93-48. It was a spectacular overall performance by the Eagles on both ends of the floor.

The top performers in the game were:

Jay Lane--19 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds

Corey Bedford--19 points, 8 rebounds

Robert Carter--17 points

Raphael Edwards--15 points, 5 rebounds

Cedrick Delaney--10 points, 7 assists, 3 rebounds

Landon Dufrene--8 points

Once again, Osbourn demonstrated that anybody on the team is capable of putting up big numbers. There are very few teams that get such balanced production throughout the line-up, and that is something that gives the Eagles an advantage over many teams.

Osbourn advances to the next round in the regionals with the victory, and will host North Stafford next. The game will be on Thursday night at 7 p.m., so be sure to get out to OHS and support the Eagles in their quest for a regional title!
