Eagles Sting Yellow Jackets, 42-7

Special teams ignites Osbourn to crushing victory

Osbourn (3-2) extended its win streak yet again on Monday night as they defeated cross-town rivals Osbourn Park (1-3), 42-7.

The Eagles turned to their leaders on offense as senior running back Cedrick Delaney led the rushing attack with 123 yards and a touchdown.

Junior quarterback Connor Lane went 4-11 for 55 yards and a touchdown through the air, and also contributed 54 yards and a touchdown on nine rushes. For the third consecutive week, the Eagles offense posted 40 or more points in a game.

The offense put together an impressive first possession drive for a touchdown, but it was the special teams’ play that propelled the Eagles to a 21-0 first quarter lead.

The first two punt attempts by the Yellow Jackets were denied by two separate Eagles: Eric Robinson and Tyler Tapscott. They each thwarted a punt, with Robinson recovering his in the endzone for a touchdown.

Looking to not be outdone by the busy offense, Osbourn’s defense once again played tough, allowing the only touchdown of the game late in the third quarter.

"I couldn’t be more pleased with how this game went," said Osbourn Head Coach Steve Schultz. "The guys played well on offense, defense, and special teams."

“Those first two losses made us humble and hungry and now we’re getting on a roll, and I like the direction we are headed," Shultz said.
