Lots of stuff is happening in the world and if you are as sensitive as me, it can be pretty overwhelming. I have long since stopped watching the news on a daily basis because it saddens me to see all the wars, the fighting, the craziness happening out there. One time, I had the news channel on to follow the missing airplane story and my 6 year old Joshua watched it for five minutes before turning to me and saying, "Mommy I don't like this planet. There is too much bad people here." Well said tiny sir, well said.
So what do we do? How do we maintain our humanity, our gentleness and our respect for humanity amidst the flood of Miley Cirus twerking photos and bomb threats? We tap out and tap in.
Tapping out means we withdraw from the external world and tap into our inner world. We can do this through a number of mind stilling techniques such as meditation, yoga, chanting or energy work. I love them all. When the world gets too crazy, too "in your face", I like to withdraw. I don't think of it as giving up or giving in, but more restoring my faith and love for the world.

When we are healed, we are able to heal with our mere presences. Many times over, I see clients come in who are so drained and exhausted from all the chaos in their lives, they have nothing left to give. These people are wives, mothers, sisters, coworkers, husbands and fathers. They have roles that require them to give but they are so burnt out, they have nothing left to give.
It is a martyr's complex we have as a society, to keep giving and giving and giving, without taking some time for respite, to heal and be well. This thinking needs to stop. You need to be whole, well, fit and feeling loved in order for you to give love.

As a healer, I don't just talk the talk, I walk the walk as well! I have my own therapist and healer I see on a regular basis to full me up, keep my soul, mind and emotions satiated so I can in turn, provide love and support to everyone in my life. I strongly recommend you do the same.
As you sit there reading this, silently check yourself. Ask yourself, "Where does it hurt?" and then pay attention. Maybe you will feel a physical pain in your back, or maybe it can be an emotional ache in the heart. Your being will respond to that question because as you intend to ask, the answer will come forward.
Whatever the hurt, whatever the feeling, starting today, make a promise to yourself to start tuning out and tuning in to your inner world. Start small, maybe a couple minutes of meditation every day, a few stretches here and there and in time, you will need that daily practice like your daily coffee. So addictive!
Thanks for listening and hey, if you ever want a real healing session, check me out! I am your neighborhood's healer and I welcome you anytime!
