Fatal Manassas Crash May Have Been Caused By Speed, Impairment: Police

A Manassas man died in a single-vehicle crash on Sunday, authorities said. Investigators believe speed and impairment may have been factors.

MANASSAS, VA — A Manassas man died in a single-vehicle crash on Lake Jackson Drive on Sunday afternoon, the Prince William County Police Department said.

Investigators identified the man as 22-year-old Tommy Alexys Alvarado. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The crash occurred around 5 p.m. on Sunday near the intersection of Lake Jackson Drive and Blandsford Drive. Authorities said Alvarado was speeding in his 2005 Honda Civic before the crash.

At one point the driver lost control, drove off the road, and hit a tree, according to the police report. No other injuries were reported, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

"Speed and impairment appear to be factors in the collision," the police department said in a news release.
