MANASSAS, VA — A driver was injured on Wednesday morning when his FedEx delivery van crashed into the back of a fire engine on Prince William Parkway near Manassas, according to the department of fire and rescue. The driver was taken to the hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.

The crash occurred around 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning, authorities said. Fire engine 522 was stopped Prince William Parkway south of Balls Ford Road to respond to a vehicle fire. The fire engine had just arrived on the scene before the crash.

The fire engine sustained moderate damage in the crash, authorities said. The fire department described the damage to the van as "extensive."

Authorities did not specify the extent of the van driver's injuries on Wednesday morning.

The crash is being investigated by the Prince William County Police Department, and authorities have not disclosed any other factors that may have contributed to the crash.
