GAINESVILLE, VA — A fire broke out at the Virginia Flooring Supply warehouse in Gainesville on Monday evening, according to the Prince William County fire department.
No injuries were reported in the fire, but the building sustained moderate damage. The building official determined that the building is unsafe to occupy.
Firefighters arrived at the Virginia Flooring Supply around 11 p.m. on Monday. The first firefighters arrived on the scene and asked for additional crews due to the size of the building and the smoke in the area.

First responders quickly extinguished the blaze, which began near a refrigerator, authorities said. The building was not occupied when the fire started.
Authorities said the damage was minimized because of an effective fire alarm and sprinkler system. "Had the structure not been equipped with these systems the loss would have been more substantial and the risk to firefighters would have been greater," the fire department said in a news release. "Business and home owners are reminded to make sure your fire protection systems are properly maintained and tested as required."
