Firefighter Injured, Family Safe From House Fire In Haymarket
A family was not at home when a heavy fire started at their home in Haymarket, prompting an extensive firefighting effort.
HAYMARKET, VA — A family was displaced from a home due to a house fire Sunday morning in Haymarket, according to Prince William County Fire and Rescue.
The fire happened around 10:41 a.m. in the 13000 block of Dominique Estates Lane in Haymarket. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire showing from the single-family home. None of the residents were home when the fire occurred, but one firefighter was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The fire department had an extensive response due to the heavy fire and lack of fire hydrants in the area. The home had extensive damage due to the fire and was deemed unsafe to occupy. Two adults and three children were displaced.

A resident of the home shared a message of thanks to the fire department on social media, saying, "Thank you for all you did to save our home. We are just devastated by the loss, but we are humbled by your team’s response and compassion." All of the family members were reported to be safe, including their dog.
The fire marshal's office determined the possible origin of the fire was on a screened porch in the back. The exact cause was not specified.
