First Lady To Visit Manassas

First Lady Michelle Obama will visit a major technology company in Manassas on Thursday to encourage employers across the country to hire military veterans.

She will visit Micron Technology Inc., a semiconductor manufacturer, according to an announcement from the Virginia Democratic Party. At the event, the first lady will announce new commitments to train and hire veterans and military spouses across several high-growth sectors.

In 2011, President Obama challenged the private sector to hire 100,000 veterans and military spouses by the end of 2013. The president’s Joining Forces initiative is continuing to challenge businesses to hire our nation’s veterans - to date, employers have hired or trained hundreds of thousands of veterans and military spouses.

In Manassas, the first lady will discuss continued progress on veteran employment efforts, and call on the country to continue hiring veterans and military spouses, the announcement said.
