Former Gymnastics Coach Accused Of Sexually Abusing Girl: Police
Sergio Galvez, a former head coach of the USA Gymnastics tumbling team, was arrested in connection to the Prince William County case.

BURKE, VA — A man who coached at a Burke gymnastics center and the USA Gymnastics tumbling team has been charged with sexually abusing a girl over a decade ago.
Prince William County Police arrested Sergio Galvez, 47, of Clifton, on Tuesday. He was charged with three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child by a custodian.
Prince William County Police were notified of a tip to the FBI involving a girl Galvez coached at the Burke gymnastics center. The alleged abuse occurred more than once between August 2007 and 2008, when the victim was 16 and 17. The alleged assaults happened where Galvez lived at the time in Haymarket.

The IndyStar previously reported multiple accusers came forward against Galvez when he was the head coach for the USA Gymnastics tumbling team. The first victim to make allegations had been training and working for Galvez at Capital Gymnastics National Training Center in Burke. USA Gymnastics forced Galvez to resign in October 2018 after allegations were filed with the U.S. Center for SafeSport.
Galvez is being held on a $20,000 secured bond. A court date is pending. Anyone with additional information is asked to call the FBI Washington Field Office at 202-278-2000.

Fairfax County Police charged another former coach at Capital Gymnastics National Training Center earlier in 2019. The charges were tied to an alleged sexual relationship with a teenage girl.
