Manassas July 4, 2017 Fireworks, Rooftop Party, Contests And More

Everything from a rooftop party with spirits to rides for kids are included in the Manassas Fourth of July celebration — fireworks included.

MANASSAS, VA — There are myriad ways to celebrate the Fourth of July, and the City of Manassas, as well as Historic Manassas, Inc!, have come up with something for everyone. This includes rides for kids and imbibing for adults. And yes, it will all be capped off with what's billed as "one of the largest fireworks displays in Northern Virginia."

The so-called all-American party will be centered around the downtown train depot, the Harris Pavilion and the Manassas Museum. The festivities are scheduled to begin a 3 p.m. with rides for the kids, after which food concessions and novelty vendors open at 4 p.m.

WEATHER UPDATE: The weather forecast is a bit dicey. NBC Washington's Chuck Bell says storms will be a bit more likely south and west of the D.C. Metro area; he says rain is most likely between 2 and 7 p.m., but fireworks should be dry. The National Weather Service calls for scattered showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Look for mostly cloudy skies with a high near 93. The chance of precipitation is 40 percent. The chance of scattered rain showers before 2 am creeps up to 50 percent. Skies tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 73.

Here's the schedule, as provided by organizers:

PARKING

The Parking Garage will not be available for parking for safety reasons. Parking will be available on the streets surrounding Historic Downtown and in the Commuter Parking lot, located on Prince William Street. Due to the heavy volume of pedestrians in the street surrounding the festival, cars would not be able to safely exit the garage.

This is a public, outdoor event. No alcohol or open grills. Though we love pets, with thousands of people expected to attend and the loud noise from the fireworks, it is best to leave your pets at home.
