Gainesville Resident Publishing Dream Comes True after 40+ Years
Norma Jean Burnette, mother, wife, counselor and Gainesville resident, publishes her first book after 40 years

Gainesville resident Norma Jean Burnette has published her first book entitled 40 Years in the Wilderness, partially a memoir, partially a self-help guide originally intended as a legacy for her family. The book is quickly becoming much more than that, however, as readers are discovering the unique insights and wisdom the Virginia native imparts.
"I decided to write this book because I spent approximately 40 years of my life trying to figure out my worth, how I was supposed to feel and what I was supposed to do," Burnette said.
A wife and mother, Burnette obtained her B.S. in human services counseling with a minor in psychology when she was 62. More than 20 years later, Burnette looks back at a lifetime of experiences and recalls her passion for “helping people untangle their emotions.”

The story of Norma Jean will resonate with anyone who knows what it feels to be on a long, profound journey towards self-discovery. The book is authenticity itself, sometimes raw, frequently poetic, always infused with faith and hope. Burnette says of the work, "This book is from one real human being to another."
40 Years in the Wilderness is available through Amazon and its affiliated online publishing houses starting this month.
