3. Set a Goal

Spring is a great time to get in shape. Healthy habits are easier to imbed as the season changes and the weather improves. Another factor to increase your ability to maintian new healthy habits is enlisting a friend. Research shows if you work out with a friend, or your best four-legged friend, you are more likely to continue. The added benefit of exercising with your dog is that your dog is happier and healthier too. And if you have a puppy at home, it’s a great way to tire them out and reduce the chance that they will chew out of boredom. And finally setting a goal increases your commitment to your healthy lifestyle.

NOVADog has combined all of these factors into one program: A fun fitness program for you AND your dog that culminates with the GlowDogGlow 5K – The country’s first-ever nighttime foot race you can run WITH your dog. The 5K will be held on May 23, 2015 at Prince William County Fairgrounds for all dog-lovers! The race begins at 8:15 PM and will last until 11:00 PM with the conclusion of the after-party.

Our love of dog and love of fitness are finding themselves together more often. NOVADog loves to be an active member of the community; we have organized group hikes, events and online blog-a-thons. And now, we have a professionally designed training program for humans and dogs to get in shape together, just in time to Light. It. Up on the racecourse!

NOVADog’s partner, Friends of Homeless Animals will bring adoptable dogs that make great running companions for dog-less runners. Donations will be made in support of this organization. To brighten up the competition, participants are encouraged to try to outshine the race course–decking out in twinkles, luminescence, sparkles, polish and shine.
