Gordmans Plans Manassas Job Fair At Peebles Location

MANASSAS, VA — Gordmans, an off-price department store, is holding a hiring event at its proposed Manassas location on Jan. 9 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The site, now a Peebles department store, is scheduled to reopen as a Gordmans on March 3.
Last summer, Houston-based Stage Stores Inc, which owns both Peebles and Gordmans, announced plans to convert several of its Peebles stores in Virginia to Gordmans. The Manassas Gordmans will be located at 9018 Mathis Ave. in the Manassas Shopping Center, the current location of Peebles.
At the Jan. 9 job fair, Gordmans will be looking to fill several openings and is part of a process to fill positions at nine new Gordmans locations in Virginia. Interested candidates are invited to first apply online and then visit the job fair at the Manassas location or other sites in Virginia from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

"Stage is converting its Peebles and other department store name plates to Gordmans in 2020, an off-price concept offering everyone's favorite brands at prices way lower than department stores," Gordmans said Monday in a news release. "Positions, which vary by store location, include store manager, assistant store manager, sales associate, stockroom associate and more."
According to Stage, consumers have responded positively to off-price offerings at Gordmans.

Peebles was founded in 1891 by William Smith Peebles, who opened his first store in Lawrenceville, Virginia, about 70 miles southwest of Richmond. All current Peebles employees, according to the company, will be offered jobs at Gordmans.
Along with the Manassas store, the Peebles stores to be converted to Gordmans in Virginia are in Altavista, Appomattox, Ashland, Bedford, Blackstone, Colonial Heights, Covington, Emporia, Front Royal, Hampton, Hayes, Hopewell, Kilmarnock, King George, Luray, Lexington, Louisa, Norfolk, Onley, Pulaski, Rocky Mount, Smithfield, South Hill, Tappahannock, Vansant, Warrenton, Waynesboro, Wise and Woodstock.
