Hit-and-Run, DUI Suspect Had Infant in Car: Police

Officer found the car pulling into a nearby shopping center after mid-day accident, according to Prince William County Police.

A Woodbridge man is accused of leaving the scene of a wreck and driving under the influence, all while a 2-month-old baby was in the car.

James David Burgess, 22, of the 4600 block of Telfair Ct in Woodbridge, is charged with felony child neglect , driving under the influence and hit and run.

At 11:45 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the area of Signal Hill Road and Janet Rose Court to investigate a hit and run.

The caller reported to police that she was involved in an accident, but the other driver didn’t stop at the scene.

Using a description provided by the caller, the other vehicle was found a short time later, pulling into a nearby shopping center.

The officer pulled over the car and determined the driver was intoxicated, according to police. There was also a 2-month-old girl in the car.
