Hospitalizations Jump In NoVA; 3 Hospitals Report PPE Difficulty
As of Friday, Northern Virginia jurisdictions had 333 patients hospitalized with COVID-19, the highest number since June 16.
VIRGINIA — The Virginia Department of Health reported 1,216 additional coronavirus cases and seven new deaths on Friday. Cumulative numbers stand at 104,838 cases, 8,650 hospitalizations, and 2,370 deaths, according to VDH.
New coronavirus cases include 384 in the eastern region, 331 in the northern region, 208 in the central region, 192 in the southwest region, and 101 in the northwest region.
The statewide 7-day average of positive coronavirus tests is 7.2 percent as of Aug. 10. There have been 1,316,037 PCR tests completed in Virginia, an increase of 14,128 from Thursday.

In Northern Virginia, new cases jumped from 208 on Thursday to 331 on Friday. The two jurisdictions reporting the most cases Friday were in Northern Virginia. Fairfax County reported 113 new cases of the coronavirus followed by Prince William County with 87 new cases.
As of Friday, Northern Virginia had 333 patients hospitalized with COVID-19, the highest number since June 16 when 339 people were hospitalized, according to the VDH. Since early April, the region reached a low of 183 people hospitalized with COVID-19 on July 26 and a peak of 818 hospitalizations on April 30.

According to the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association, 150 patients were on ventilators and 268 were in intensive care units on Friday. A total of 13,477 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals to date.
On Friday, three hospitals were reporting difficulty obtaining personal protective equipment in the next 72 hours, and one hospital was reporting difficulty obtaining other medical supplies. Over the last week, at least one hospital in Virginia has reported difficulty acquiring PPE.

- Alexandria: 3,050 cases, 282 hospitalizations, 61 deaths; increase of 30 cases, one hospitalization and one death.
- Arlington County: 3,176 cases, 437 hospitalizations, 135 deaths; increase of 42 cases.
- Fairfax County: 16,816 cases, 1,956 hospitalizations, 531 deaths; increase of 113 cases, one hospitalization and one death.
- Fairfax City: 93 cases, 11 hospitalizations, seven deaths; increase of one case.
- Falls Church: 63 cases, nine hospitalizations, six deaths; no changes.
- Loudoun County: 5,441 cases, 358 hospitalizations, 115 deaths; increase of 38 cases and two hospitalizations.
- Manassas: 1,689 cases, 124 hospitalizations, 22 deaths; increase of 10 cases.
- Manassas Park: 530 cases, 50 hospitalizations, seven deaths; increase of 10 cases.
- Prince William County: 9,773 cases, 813 hospitalizations, 178 deaths; increase of 87 cases and one hospitalization.
- Fredericksburg: 424 cases, 45 hospitalizations, four deaths; increase of three cases and one hospitalization.
- Spotsylvania County: 1,581 cases, 103 hospitalizations, 35 deaths; increase of 11 cases and four hospitalizations.
- Stafford County: 1,460 cases, 124 hospitalizations, 10 deaths; increase of 14 cases and one hospitalization.
