House Of Mercy Burglarized In Manassas: Police

Authorities are looking for a masked man who burglarized the House of Mercy in Manassas shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday: PWC Police.

MANASSAS, VA โ€” Authorities are looking for a masked man who burglarized the House of Mercy thrift store at 8170 Flannery Court shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, according to Prince William County Police. The suspect is described as being of an unknown race, 6-0, 165 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Police arrived at the business around 9 a.m. Sunday for a reported burglary. They found that the suspect had shattered the front glass door with a rock, went inside and stole an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register before fleeing. His images were recorded by video surveillance.

The House of Mercy is a non-profit center that, while also a thrift store, specializes in providing free clothing, food and other assistance for the poor and the homeless. Its mission, according to its Facebook page, primarily is to "help families overcome the barriers of poverty in our community. Additional programs include packing meals for the hungry, Christmas assistance, and new shoes for kids returning to school."
