Inmate Charged After Coughing On Guard At Prince William Jail

An inmate at the Prince William County jail was charged after he allegedly deliberately coughed on a corrections officer, police said.

MANASSAS, VA — A 41-year-old inmate at the Prince William County jail was charged with assault and battery after he allegedly deliberately coughed on a corrections officer Monday morning, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

On Monday at around 4:45 a.m., Prince William County police officers went to the Prince William-Manassas Adult Detention Center in Manassas to investigate the coughing incident. The investigation revealed that earlier in the morning, an inmate of the facility, Robert Richard Miller, had intentionally coughed on a staff member.

Miller was charged with assault and battery on a corrections officer and remained held at the jail.
