MANASSAS, VA — JK Moving Services purchased 135 acres in the Manassas area as part of a plan to better serve clients in Prince William County and the surrounding area. The moving company expects to add 300 new employees in the Manassas location, including administrative, sales, driver and warehouse positions.

JK Moving, headquarered in Sterling, plans to build a 100,000-square-foot building at the location by the fourth quarter of 2021 for use as office and storage space. A second 100,000-square-foot building also is planned at the site. Other parts of land will be considered for other uses, including commercial, industrial and data center development, the company said.

JK Moving acquired the 135 acres, located on Wellington Road, from Gainesville Associates for a price of $47 million. The parties closed on the land deal on Tuesday. The property adjoins land recently acquired by Google, the company said.

The new location will be closer to JK Moving's clients, according to the company, and will serve as a bridge between its Sterling headquarters and its existing Woodbridge office.

"With our business growing, we need to expand our footprint in Northern Virginia," Chuck Kuhn, CEO and founder of JK Moving, said Wednesday in a statement. "Securing a property in Manassas complements our existing Woodbridge location, and helps us in terms of better serving our area customers and hiring additional staff members."
