The chase occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday 6500 block of Trading Square in Haymarket. Investigators said Pittis and the victim knew each other and had an argument in the parking lot. The dispute escalated when Pittis pulled out a knife, the police department said.

After unsuccessfully chasing the victim, Pittis walked to the victim's truck. He then shattered one of the truck's windows before driving away in his own vehicle, authorities said.

Local police officers found Pittis nearby and took him into custody.
