Local Main Street Community Also Offers Volunteers Opportunity

Looking for volunteer opportunities in a historic setting? This one in historic Manassas might be just the thing.

Many people are familiar with Historic Manassas, Inc. (HMI). But did you know they have volunteer opportunities? Many times these opportunities are announced through the Volunteer Prince William website. But HMI also accepts volunteers on a regular basis for the visitor center located at the train depot in, well, historic Manassas.

Here's the job description:

Volunteer will assist visitors to Old Town Manassas with any questions or concerns they may have and provide guidance during their visit by providing information about shopping, dining, transportation, and other tourism activities in the area. Volunteer also assists in answering incoming phone calls and maintains the upkeep of the Visitor Center.

Email Melissa Williams, the visitor center's director for more information: Melissa@historicmanassasinc.org.

HMI promotes Historic Downtown Manassas by sponsoring special events throughout the year to bring local residents and visitors downtown, and to reinforce the identity of the historic area. HMI also organizes a co-op advertising program for the businesses, making both television and print advertising affordable to small business owners.

HMI has been instrumental in providing Historic Downtown Mnassas with a unifying visual concept to enhance its identity. The historic district is identified through facade design, new construction design, and distinctive signage. HMI sponsors the banners on the lamp posts, and works closely with the Beautification Committee and the Manassas Garden Club to plant flowers along the streets.

Historic Manassas, Inc (HMI) is a non-profit organization located in Old Town Manassas. Historic Manassas Inc.'s main office is located in the historic Train Depot at 9431 West Street. Historic Manassas Inc. is proud to be a Virginia Main Street Community (since 1986)!
