The Accounting and Financial Women’s Alliance (AFWA) awarded Kathryn D’Elia Seltman, CPA the 2021 President’s Award at the annual Women Who Count Conference for her long-time support of the DC Chapter of AFWA. Kathryn joined AFWA in 1976, served as the DC Chapter President in 1980, and continued as an active member through her participation in chapter meetings, community service, scholarship fund-raisers, and mentoring members through the decades. She has traveled to attend thirteen national conferences across the United States where she networks with women from across the country, benefits from professional education, and returns with new ideas and renewed commitment to her chapter and the organization.

Kathryn credits AFWA with connecting her to her last and longest lasting job with the merchant banking firm, G. Miller William & Co. Inc. in Washington, DC and Tyson's Corner, where she worked for nearly 20 years even as the company changed ownership. She continues to serve clients who she retained after the successor owner retired in 2007. AFWA is proud to recognize Kathryn for her adaptability, dedication, and long-term support of AFWA and its mission to enable women in accounting and finance to reach their full potential and contribute to the profession. She is an unsung hero who has quietly, through her example and commitment, led the way and opened doors for other women in the fields of accounting and finance.
