Man Caught on Video Robbing 7-Eleven Arrested in Manassas: Police

MANASSAS, VA — A man who brazenly robbed a 7-Eleven Tuesday and attempted to rob a Family Dollar store the same night was arrested Wednesday, according to Manassas City Police.

John J. Schafer, 47, of the 8800 block of Grant Avenue, was charged with robbery and attempted robbery.

Around 7:45 p.m., the suspect entered the 7-Eleven and demanded money from the clerk while pointing a knife at her. She complied and he left with an undisclosed amount of cash. But his image clearly was captured on a security video, which showed him robbing the store and driving away in his car.

The Family Dollar incident occurred about 15 minutes earlier, according to police.
