Man Died Trying To Jump Onto Moving Train In Manassas: Police

Authorities said a 25-year-old man died on Friday night when he tried to jump onto a moving train in Manassas.

MANASSAS, VA — A man died on Friday night after he tried to jump onto a moving train in Manassas, the Manassas City Police Department said.

Authorities have not publicly identified the man. The police department noted that he was 25 years old.

The incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Friday night at the train crossing on West Street. Police officers found the man on the tracks when they arrived. Rescue personnel responded and pronounced the man dead, according to the police report.

Witnesses told police officers that they saw the man try to jump onto a moving train. He was unsuccessful and fell under the train, authorities said.

The police department said their investigation is still ongoing.

A police spokesperson told Patch that the man's family identified his body. The Office of the Medical Examiner is also working on the case, the police department said.
