Man Hit And Killed By School Bus In Bristow: Police UPDATE

UPDATE: The man who died has been identified as Richard Lee Proffitt, 62, of Manassas. No charges have been placed, say police. The investigation is continuing.

BRISTOW, VA—A 62-year-old man was hit and killed by a school bus Monday morning at the Prince William County Schools McCuin Transportation Center, 7900 Piney Branch Lane, according to Prince William County Police. The man, a school system employee, was pronounced dead at the scene. No students were on the bus, and the driver, a 60-year-old man, wasn't injured.

Around 7:30 a.m., police responded to the scene and found that a 2014 Freightliner school bus was backing out of a service area at the center when it struck the employee, who was standing behind the bus.
