Man Shot By Police In Manassas
An 18-year man was shot by Manassas City Police following a vehicle chase Thursday night that ended in George Hellwig Memorial Park.

MANASSAS, VA — A man was shot and seriously injured Thursday night by Manassas City Police following a vehicle chase that ended at George Hellwig Memorial Park, 14420 Bristow Road, according to Prince William County Police. The man, 18, was flown to an area hospital for treatment. A juvenile passenger in the vehicle wasn't hurt.
The chase began soon after Manassas City Police responded to a report of shots fired. They spotted a vehicle suspected to be involved and attempted a traffic stop but the driver refused to pull over and kept driving as police followed the vehicle into Prince William County.

The vehicle finally stopped after it entered the park. That's when the shooting occurred, and no information has been released as to what prompted it. Police aided the driver until a Fire and Rescue unit arrived. Prince William County Police are investigating the criminal aspect of the shooting, and the Manassas City Police Internal Affairs division is handling the administrative end.
